The Minerva Chapter was founded on the 6th April 1783  making it the oldest surviving Chapter in the City of Kingston upon Hull and the oldest in the Province of Yorkshire North & East Ridings.

A Master Mason having completed the three degrees in the Craft is then eligible to join a Chapter. Not all Lodges have Chapters but many do. Joining a Chapter is considered to be the culmination of your masonic journey where you can increase your knowledge and is to be strongly recommended. ​
