ABOUT US

Masonic Lodges were first established in Kingston upon Hull in 1759. The Minerva Lodge was the fourth of these Lodges to be founded and is today the only surviving one of the earlier Lodges. Founded in September 1782 we originally meet at the Masons Arms on Chapel Lane. In 1802 we acquired a piece of land on a 96 year leasehold from the trustees of the Swedenborgian Chapel on Dagger Lane where we built our own Lodge and where we still meet to this day. We acquired the complete freehold of the land including the old chapel in January 1874.

The Minerva Lodge has quite a reputation of being a little bit different. This is because of its unique ritual known as the "Humber Rite". Only a few Lodges on the East Coast use this ritual however ours really is quite different.

Today we are a very vibrant and friendly Lodge. Over the past decade we have had a degree ceremony at every single meeting with many new younger Gentleman joining us.
